The Internet of Things (IoT) seems to be buzzing no matter which way you turn. It links objects to the Internet, enabling data and insights never available before. Of all the technology trends that are taking place right now, perhaps the biggest one is the Internet of Things; it’s the one that’s going to give businesses immense opportunities over the coming years.
I feel IoT is about overturning old models entirely, creating new services and new products. There is no one sector where the Internet of Things is not making the biggest impact. Today, IoT connected devices run factories and buildings to preserve power and other utilities. Your refrigerators can send grocery lists in the form of text messages to your phone when the supplies run out. Without the capacity to analyze and present data gathered by the sensors, the innovation would not be worth the effort. The IOT brings the intersection between collecting information and leveraging it real time.
One of the biggest advantages of smart technologies is the ability to predict and prevent problems from anywhere. If you could monitor and control your assets remotely in real time, you would know the minute a problem erupted, exactly where and what it is, and you’d take advantage of major cost savings.
For IoT to reach its full potential, sensors are needed to be self-sustaining. What’s needed is a way for sensors to generate power from environmental elements such as vibrations, light, and airflow. One of the implementation we at Syscraft did recently for one of the retail store chain had sensors to generate power through any form of light may it be Sun or LED and emit signals to capture customer data through their mobile app responses to signals. We at Syscraft worked to integrate their customer walk-ins with Customer Profiling & CRM and generate a personal touch for customers to show them what they purchased last, have sales attendants a live access to customer data as they are attending the client and with live push notifications provide offers in the section a customer is actually in. What else do you need to infuse an impulsive buying as a retail store J .
This is a huge and transformational shift. This technology represents the next evolution of Internet. IoT has the potential to change the world as we know it today—for the better. By combining the ability of the next evolution of the Internet (IoT) to sense, collect, transmit, analyze, and distribute data on a massive scale with the way people process information, humanity will have the knowledge and wisdom it needs not only to survive, but to thrive in the coming months, years, decades, and centuries.
We at Syscraft are dedicated to bring the best out of it and coming up with innovations to help businesses thrive in this competitive world. Stay tuned for more from my part or do share your experiences and how you feel we can make it a different world to live.
